Role Description
This is a mostly remote, full-time role for a PLC Programmer based in the Central Florida area. While much of the work can be performed remotely, the position requires occasional travel and driving for site visits and start-ups as needed. The PLC Programmer will be responsible for developing and testing PLC programs, configuring and troubleshooting VFDs, and integrating various control systems. This role involves working closely with engineering teams to provide solutions for industrial automation projects, performing site installations, and ensuring system functionality and reliability.
Qualifications
Proficiency in PLC programming, including the development, testing, and troubleshooting of control logic specific to water and wastewater systems
Hands-on experience with VFD configuration, pump control, telemetry, and SCADA system integration
Solid understanding of industrial automation, with a focus on municipal and utility-based control systems
Familiarity with control panel hardware, instrumentation, and field wiring in water and wastewater environments
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in field and remote team settings
Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills, especially when working with municipalities and utility clients
Willingness and ability to travel and drive throughout the state of Florida as required for site visits, commissioning, or support
Relevant certifications or a degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Instrumentation, or a related technical field preferred
Day to Day Responsibilities
Develop and test PLC logic for water and wastewater systems (e.g., pump stations, lift stations, treatment plants)
Configure and troubleshoot VFDs, pressure transducers, float switches, flow meters, and related field instrumentation
Design, program, and deploy HMI and SCADA screens (such as Ignition, VTScada, or Wonderware)
Perform remote diagnostics and provide technical support to clients and field techs
Travel to project sites across Florida for system installations, commissioning, and startup when needed
Work with electrical and mechanical contractors during system installation and panel integration
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field staff to ensure systems meet project specs and deadlines
Maintain version control and backups of programs and SCADA configurations
